The introvert’s perspective on labels

You don't want to be labeled.

Hey everybody! It’s Bryan from Medium & other places on the internet!

This will be a Monday wake-up email.

Introverts are one of the groups suffering from labels.

I’m part of that group.

Labels like: Introvert, Extrovert, Autistic, Shy, and much more might or will not apply to everybody in that specific group.

Let me tell you a secret about us: we don’t care about your labels.

I often wonder how people can be so obsessed with their own labels and define them as their identity.

There’s more to you than your skin color, sexuality, or mental health status.

Some people might find that controversial.

But it’s not.

Those people need to realize that they’re being tricked into a victim that they’re not.

You’re not worth less because you’re something else.

The more you hear it, the more you believe it.

Self-worth is a keyword here.

“I am the measure of my worth, and I say I am worthy.”

You will be stuck in a bubble.

The truth is, a lot of people are in this bubble and don’t know they’re in the bubble.

That’s why there needs to be more awareness around.

Recommend:

Don’t let labels hold you back.

Let me tell you a personal story.

We often see these movies, shows, and sometimes even documentaries about introverts, and autistic people and we think they’re these crazy ones that won’t leave the house and can’t speak to anybody.

That’s not the case for everybody.

I’m a living example.

I’ve never been more social in my life than today. Even though I was diagnosed with autism at 4 years of age.

You see, your “label” shouldn’t let you stay put and prevent you from achieving greatness.

I love to travel, going out there and finding out about new places and it’s really terrifying for some introverts.

But not for me. It’s something that fulfills me.

What would be your “label”?

I’m interested in you.

What would you say are your labels? You can directly reply to the poll.

My experience in writing about this topic tells me that most people don’t identify as only 1 label and it’s a very broad spectrum.

That makes a lot of sense because we’re such complicated creatures.
